Asphalt shingles

Asphalt Shingle Roofing — The Smart Choice for Most Midwest Homes

Asphalt shingles remain the most widely installed roofing material in the United States — and for good reason. They offer the right combination of performance, value, and aesthetic variety for most residential applications. SwingCoast installs asphalt shingle roofing across Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Iowa, and Nebraska, as a certified installer for IKO, CertainTeed, and Owens Corning.

Three-Tab vs. Architectural vs. Impact-Resistant Shingles

Three-Tab Shingles — the original asphalt shingle profile, with a flat, single-layer construction. Lower cost but shorter lifespan (15-20 years) and less wind resistance. Largely replaced by architectural shingles in new installations.

Architectural (Dimensional) Shingles — laminated construction that creates a three-dimensional appearance and significantly improved performance. 25-30 year lifespan standard. Wind ratings to 110-130 mph. The standard recommendation for most residential applications across our six markets.

Impact-Resistant Shingles — Class 3 and Class 4 rated shingles designed to withstand hail impact without cracking or bruising. Often qualify for insurance discounts in hail-prone markets like Lenexa, KS and Johnston, IA. Worth the premium cost in most Midwest markets.
